Stazzo Tirriaga - Rural farmhouse with park
In an uncontaminated area of Gallura, immersed in a
historical-naturalistic context, I propose an exclusive Gallura farmhouse
surrounded by an important extension of land (110 hectares) divided into
pastures and wooded areas.
The stazzo, whose dimensions are around 350 square metres on two levels,
maintains the typical construction characteristics of the agricultural cottages
used in the past decades: with a typical elongated rectangular plan, the
"Stazzo Tirriaga" was initially builded as the home of two families
with close ties.
From the front elevation, which is essentially symmetrical, one can see
the old central division between the right and left sides.
The central double-storey part "a Palazzu or Palazzeddu" houses
two large living areas on the ground floor, connected by a small entrance area
which connects, in addition to the two areas mentioned, the stone staircase
leading to the first floor. The first floor is made up of three rooms, each of
which is accessible through a corridor: a very large master bedroom and two
smaller rooms.
On the far left of the residential building, next to it, there is
another small independent structure with access through a small door on the
main entrance.
On the far left of the residential building, next to it, there is
another small independent structure with access through a small door on the
main façade has a wood-burning oven with an external lean-to.
The stable/stable (about 110 square metres gross, on two floors)
Located to the north of the residential building at a distance of about
30 metres, the stable has a rectangular floor plan (12 x 6 m) with an
asymmetrical double floor. On the left-hand side, exactly half of the floor
area (6 x 6 m) there is an upper floor divided internally by a wooden ceiling.
The room on the first floor, accessible through an upstream door, was
probably used as a hay store. This austere building, with its clear geometry,
lends itself very well to a change of use to be re-functionalized as a
dwelling.
The walls of both structures show no signs of subsidence or particular
deterioration that would compromise their stability. The roofs have been
entirely rebuilt:
load-bearing floors and roof covering. The latter, in the residential
building, was made with original Sardinian tiles from the early 20th century
for the visible part and new tiles for all the channels.
The image of Stazzo Tirriaga was chosen for an important regional
conference on the landscape organised by the Region of Sardinia in
collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.
The interiors of Stazzo Tirriaga were used to shoot a short film
"Il muto di Gallura", a story based on the famous novel by Enrico
Costa.
The surrounding green area is made up of mixed woodland covering an area
of 110 hectares. The property has direct access from the provincial road SP58
(Aggius - Viddalba) through a gate located about 3 km from the junction
Aggius-Trinità, the same inside and has dirt roads passable by car. From the
entrance it is easy to reach the upper part of the land where the buildings
stand out, dominating the entire area.
The buildings, the land and all the improvements made over the last two
centuries (wells, fountains, roads, reforestation, etc.) is a true example of
an ancient Gallura farm.
