Gallurese farmhouse surrounded by a wooded park
Moving to Sardinia offers a charming "Stazzo" (traditional Sardinian farmhouse) in the Gallura hinterland, a few minutes from the town of Tempio Pausania and about 35 minutes from the beaches of northern Sardinia. The "Stazzo" is located in the center of a private plot of over 13 hectares (>133,000 square meters) featuring typical Mediterranean maquis (holm oaks, cork oaks, rockrose, broom, lavender, mastic). The building, with its usual rectangular plan and wooden gabled roof, internally retains architectural details from the 1940s-1950s, the period of its initial construction. Over the years, it has undergone improvements and extensions. In 2011, it was completely renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art water and electrical systems, with the aim of making every area functional even for year-round living. The renovation aimed to preserve the original characteristics of the structure, characterized, according to the Gallura style, by the almost exclusive use of granite in every possible application. The main house, on two floors, consists of seven main rooms, two bathrooms, three utility rooms, and a further large room currently used as a storage room, but with potential for other uses, as it has an independent entrance. All rooms, with their respective windows, enjoy excellent brightness thanks to their south-facing exposure. The heating system has two boilers, one LPG and one wood-burning, which can also operate simultaneously. Solar panels ensure the production of domestic hot water for at least 10 months a year. The "Stazzo" also includes a boiler room and a stable, currently used as a storage shed. Outside, a short distance from the main building, there are two further stone structures, originally used as a hayloft and a pigsty. Electricity is supplied through a modern infrastructure built in the early 2000s, while the water supply is guaranteed by a 110-meter deep artesian well providing potable water. Near the "Stazzo" there are also two potable water springs, one of which is channeled into a large reservoir that provides uninterrupted water supply throughout the year. The entire property is bordered by dry-stone granite walls – also completely restored – extending over 3,000 meters. The house enjoys a stunning view of Mount Limbara, the highest mountain in northern Sardinia, and a valley immersed in lush greenery, offering a unique experience of tranquility and contact with nature.
